Darlene West Canadian Writer

I started my writing career in Alberta, as a business reporter and trade journal editor, before fleeing the office, 20 plus years ago, and moving to British Columbia. Since then, I’ve written about hiking the Rockies, fly fishing in Cariboo country, outdoor adventures in the Kootenays, picking cherries, farming lavender, motoring through Montana and filming a western.

About Darlene West, Canadian Freelance Writer

My essays and articles are often inspired by the hot, dry landscapes of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, where I live, with my husband and our border collie, on a vineyard, on the outskirts of a small town, with black bears and bobcats as neighbors.

I’m a long-time member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and have been a member of the judging panel for ASJA’s annual writing awards in several magazine and book categories.
